7 Playboy bunnies recreate their famous covers 30 years later
The late Hugh Hefner - founder of legendary men's magazine, Playboy - once famously said "once a Playmate always a Playmate", and this is a sentiment that seven playmates echoed in a recent editorial which saw them recreate their iconic covers, 30 years later.
While Playboy's legacy may be considered problematic in our post #MeToo world, the Playmates tell a different story. December Playmate 1982, Charlotte Kemp, speaks of a Playmate running team - "I had ten girls on the team and we'd run marathons, all around the country, raising money for charities" - she said, making the legendary men's club seem more like a sisterhood. Indeed, the ensuing photographs are emblematic of Playboy's efforts to keep up with the times. Instead of championing a sex appeal that is entirely predicated on youth, they prove that "sexiness" can be inherent at any age.
