kim kardashian cfda award acceptance speech funny naked most of time

Kim Kardashian says she was shocked to win a fashion award considering she's naked 'most of the time'

Kim Kardashian has come a long way since her party days with Paris Hilton and that embarrassingly short marriage to basketball player Kris Humphries, which lasted a grand total of 72 days. Now, she's happily married to Kanye West, has three adorable kids and is a very successful businesswoman.

Her wardrobe has also undergone a transformation, and while she's always preferred tight garments to flaunt her... er, "assets"... her look these days is far more sophisticated and minimalist than it used to be. Yet still, it's very uniquely Kim – I mean, no-one else has been daring enough to pull off biker shorts the way she does. And it seems that people have noticed, and are demanding that she gets formal recognition for it.

In fact, the CFDA Awards – the fashion version of The Oscars – took place in New York just recently, and Kim was honoured with an award. It's the first time the association has given out an "Influencer Award", and of course, they thought no-one was more deserving to get it than social media queen Kim.

But while it was a huge achievement to be the first person to win the award, Kim decided to stay humble and poke fun at herself during the acceptance speech.

"I'm kind of shocked that I'm winning a fashion award when I'm naked most of the time," she joked on stage. Kim is, of course, known for causing a stir on social media with her frequent risqué snaps that show off her curvaceous figure.

The rest of the speech was short but sweet, and the 37-year-old reflected on how far she's come.

"This is seriously such an honour," she said. "Seven years ago when I had a publicist and she asked what I—what were my goals, what were my dreams, and I said I just want to be on the cover of a fashion magazine, and she said to me, 'Let's get some realistic goals 'cause that'll never happen.'"

Since then, Kim has appeared on the cover of several big magazine covers (who can forget the one for Paper magazine?!) and she's shown doubters that anything is possible if you really want to make it happen.

"And so of course I sent her my Vogue cover when it came out, an autographed copy, but so it's really a trip to me that now I'm up here getting an award for fashion when it's something that I've always loved so thank you so much for this. It means a lot," Kim said.

But while Kim may have joked about being naked "most of the time", others choose to get upset by the fact that she does post near-nude selfies online. However just this week, model and fellow lover of the naked selfie, Emily Ratajkowski, pointed out how Kim's attitude should actually be seen as an act of empowerment. Emily called Kim an "incredible feminist", crediting her as one of her biggest role models.

"I think Kim Kardashian is actually an incredible feminist," she told Elle Australia. "I channel her when I'm having a bad day. I'm like, 'Here's someone who really doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks.' I would like to be that person who is above it all, and she is that way."

Well, no matter what you think about her naked selfies, you can't deny that she is an empowering female figure and certainly deserves that award – even if just for pulling off those bike shorts alone.
