This YouTuber tried to give herself henna freckles and it went disastrously wrong

As anyone who over-plucked their eyebrows in the 00's can attest to: beauty trends come and go. One minute it's all the rage to have barely there brows, and the next we're harking back to an 80's Brooke Shields' kind of look. And now, with the prevalence of Instagram, we've seen contouring, strobing, and now - thanks to a certain Duchess of Sussex - faux freckles.

Replicating the popular look didn't go too well for one YouTuber however. German beauty blogger, Naomi Jon, went viral after she uploaded a video attempting to give herself semi-permanent freckles, using henna.

In the 10-minute long clip, Naomi revealed that she was inspired to give herself a freckle makeover after watching a video on Instagram. "I saw this video on Instagram ages ago where this girl gave herself permanent freckles with henna, I loved it," she said.

The video in question was posted by Instagram user, Uglysxegirl. "I start with applying carrot oil on my face," she told her followers in the caption. "I use GOLECHA henna cones in the shade red-brown. Then I apply it like shown in the video.  Remove the henna when it’s fully dried. You can either remove it with warm water or just scrape it down.  At the beginning the freckles are very subtle but it will turn darker as the day progresses and the redness will fade."

After buying the same tools Uglysxegirl used, Naomi tried the technique on herself, and filmed the entire thing on camera. And we bet she's really regretting that decision right about now...

Soon after applying the henna, Naomi noticed that her skin was burning and turning red underneath. "It actually burns a little bit, is that normal?" she asked her partner. "I have no idea if 'I'm doing this right."

It's safe to say that things did not go to plan.

After comparing herself to Chucky, the YouTuber tried to cover her "freckles" with foundation and concealer. "This is a total disaster,' she asserted. "But maybe I can save it if I put foundation on? Maybe it'll look like my natural freckles beneath my foundation?"

Unfortunately, not even the most heavy-duty makeup would dampen down the redness.

Naomi turned to the internet once again for henna removal tips, which included smearing olive oil all over her face.

In the video, Naomi admitted that she's never used henna on her skin, and that it didn't occur to her to do a patch test.

"I regret everything. I actually wanna cry. I think I am gonna cry when I finish this video," she said at the end of the clip. "I need to go to work tomorrow and it's not even possible to cover this. I'm gonna go through hell."

Summing up the experience in the description box, Naomi wrote "WELLLLLL, sometimes I make bad decisions. This was one of them."

Eeek!
