Four Nine started with one mission: to represent and create a community for the 49% in the room – the women, LGBTQI+ and marginalised individuals often underrepresented in mainstream media.
It’s a space for women to share lived experiences (the type that’d usually be confined to the group chat), a hub for exclusive celebrity gossip and the first destination for viral entertainment news, memes and more.
Most importantly, Four Nine is about giving a platform to diverse perspectives, experiences, and voices. It’s here to celebrate the stories that need to be told and the voices that need to be heard. No filter. No judgement. Nothing off limits.
Editorial Standards & Corrections
Trust is the foundation of everything we do. Here is what our editorial team holds itself to, and what happens when we get something wrong.
Accuracy
Every story is grounded in verified facts. We fact-check claims, statistics and quotes before publication, rely on credible primary sources wherever possible, clearly separate confirmed facts from analysis and opinion, and use headlines that reflect the substance of the article without misleading the reader.
Fairness & Impartiality
We present stories with fairness and balance: providing enough context for readers to form their own view, giving people or organisations who are the subject of criticism a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication, avoiding inflammatory or discriminatory language, and respecting the dignity and privacy of individuals — especially those in vulnerable circumstances.
Independence
Our editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by commercial relationships, advertisers or any other external party. Sponsored content and commercial partnerships are always clearly labelled and kept separate from our editorial output.
Attribution & Plagiarism
All content published on Four Nine is original or properly attributed. We credit original reporting we build on, never copy or closely paraphrase another publication without clear attribution, and use images, video and other media only where we hold the appropriate rights, licences or permissions.
How we handle errors
Mistakes can happen. When they do, we correct them promptly, openly and transparently — we do not quietly remove or alter published content without acknowledging it.
Minor Corrections
Small errors — typos, misspellings, or minor factual inaccuracies such as a wrong date or a misspelled name — are corrected directly in the article, with a brief correction note at the bottom of the article saying what changed.
Significant Corrections
Material errors that affect the meaning, accuracy or fairness of a story get a clearly visible correction notice placed prominently within the article, explaining what was originally stated and what the corrected information is.
Retractions
In the rare case that an article is found to be substantially inaccurate, misleading or unfounded, we retract the piece. A retraction notice replaces or accompanies the original content, explaining why the article has been withdrawn.
