Chris Hemsworth announces break from Hollywood to spend more time with family
Australian actor Chris Hemsworth says he's taking a break from the movie business, prioritising quality time with his family for the time being.
Hemsworth, 35, is best known for portraying Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but has also appeared in the recent Ghostbusters reboot as well as the upcoming Men In Black: International film. He has been filming for about 12 months straight between Avengers: Infinity War, Men in Black and Avengers: Endgame and the actor says he needs a break from the business.
Here's the trailer for his upcoming, film Men In Black: International:
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Hemsworth says he's not going to be in a Hollywood project for the remainder of 2019, saying he wants to spend time with his wife, 42-year-old Elsa Pataky, as well as their three children.
"This year I probably won't shoot anything. I just want to be at home now with my kids," he explained. "They are at a very important age. They are still young and they are aware when I leave more than before."
Hemsworth touched on this before in an interview with GQ back in 2018, where he revealed that his daughter India Rose has a particularly hard time letting go. "She's normally like, ‘Yeah, see you, Daddy. Cool.’ She was like, ‘Papa! Papa! Papa!’ She doesn't always call me Papa, either," he explained.
Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky married in 2010, a year after being introduced to one another by Hemsworth's talent agent, and together, they've got three children; seven-year-old India Rose as well as twins Sasha and Tristan. The family all live together in Byron Bay, Australia, having relocated there from Los Angeles back in 2014.
