Chris Hemsworth's wife got a Thor tattoo almost 20 years before marrying him

I'm not often one for believing in soulmates, but, sometimes, the universe seems to bring together a couple that are simply - to use the cheesiest of all phrases - "meant to be". Case in point: Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth.

The impossibly gorgeous and uber talented acting duo have been married since 2010, and have three children together. While Hemsworth is obviously quite a big name at the moment due to his starring role in Avengers: Infinity War (and the three dozen Thor films that preceded it), Pataky has had a long and successful acting career in her own right and has also proven herself as a model and producer.

As it turns out, though, the couple have much more in common than similar career paths, as Pataky has actually had a connection to Thor for more than 25 years.

Speaking to Vogue, Pataky explained a lot about her personal style, including her jewelry and tattoos.

"I like jewelry, so why not [wear it all at once]? It depends on how you wear it and what you wear it with, but you can just make it yours. This is jewelry I wear every day; I don’t take it off, because I lose all my jewelry," she said;

"They mean all different things, like I have the ‘C’ for Christopher and then I’m very obsessed with the moon, so I have a half-moon and the other ones I keep changing. I usually put something on and it stays with me for a year and then I change it for another one.

"These pieces are all sentimental in some way. A lot of them Chris gave me on special occasions and I really don’t want to lose them, so I put them all on, and I do everything while wearing them: I horse-ride, I go to the beach … and I like to mix the hippie pieces that I like with more expensive pieces."

As for her tattoos, Pataky has several. She has a "C" for Chris on her ring finger, symbols for her family member's initials on her forearm, and - most prominently - the Thor symbol on her bicep. Unlike many of her other tats, though, Pataky got this one long before she met Hemsworth. In fact, she was only 15 years old when she got it done.

"Yes, it’s about Thor and I ended up marrying who plays Thor!" she explained. "It is shocking how things in life [turn out]. I just liked that [symbol] and the legend he had was so beautiful and I wanted to keep it."

Now, of course, the ink has gained another layer of meaning - especially as the couple have grown so much since meeting one another:

"In the beginning it was beautiful – when I met him he wasn’t known at all and I grew with him and experienced all his successes and changes, and then he became just so huge and I’ve been sharing that too."

I don't know about you guys, but I think these two sound adorable together. Plus, it's got me thinking - maybe the tattoo had something to do with bringing the two of them together? If that's the case, then I'm about to go get me some Black Widow tattoos. Who knows, perhaps Scarlett Johansson will come knocking on my door one day...
