A 2011 interview of Hayden Panettiere on the Ellen DeGeneres Show has resurfaced online, due to an awkward moment between the pair following an intrusive question.

The actress, 36, is best known for her roles on TV series Heroes and in the Scream film franchise.

However, Panettiere is also known for her long-term relationship with former world champion boxer Wladimir Klitschko.

At the time of her appearance on DeGeneres' show, Panettiere opened up about their time together, as many A-List celebrities did on the show, prior to it being taken off the air in May 2022.

The actress dated the Ukrainian heavyweight from 2009 to 2011, before getting engaged in 2013, and the former having their child a year later.

But in 2018, the couple would split for good, though they remained on good terms.

Hayden Panettiere was asked about their bedroom dynamic

They were still an item when Panettiere appeared on the talk show, where she opened up about one of the questions she was asked most by fans.

Ellen spoke about their stark difference in height, to which the actress admitted: "He is quite a bit bigger than me."

Panettiere measures at just 155cm, compared to Klitschko's towering height of 198cm, making the height difference impossible to miss.

"I get the prudest [sic] people coming up to me, and they're like, 'Does it work?'" she revealed.

Unsurprisingly, the actress didn't need to explain what "it" was, as everyone caught her drift, as the then-21-year-old admitted: "Yeah, it works. We find a way."

Ellen responded: "I know what you're talking about and I'm in shock," to which Panettiere said: "Where there's a will, there's a way!"

The host still couldn't believe people asked that question, as the Heroes actress explained: "And they're very conservative people most of the time.

"They just have to know. Like, have to know, 'I just have to ask you this question!'"

Ellen said that the laughter from the crowd was "crazy and rude," but her guest wasn't too concerned, saying that it was "amusing," as the host laughed and jokingly asked: "Really? Well then, how does it work?"

Hayden Panettiere comes out as bisexual

The Nashville actress made the admission this week that she is bisexual, in her first-ever public discussion about her sexuality.

She admitted in an interview with Us Weekly on Wednesday (May 6) that she started dating women “at a very, very young age.”

Opening up about her sexuality, Panettiere said: “That’s something about me I was never able to share with the world, because it was just never the right time,

“It was either I was too young, and I was being forced to be perfect at all times. I was not encouraged to just be myself.”

The 36-year-old explained: “Then came the period where it felt like people coming out, especially women, saying that they were bisexual or liked girls, was a fad. I was afraid that if I was honest, it was going to be like me jumping on the bandwagon.

“It’s sad I had to wait until I was 36 years old to share that part of me, but better late than never, right?” Panettiere said.

She then stated: “I’m comfortable to confidently say that yes, I am bisexual. I said it! This is the first time I got to say it out loud.”

Panettiere told the magazine she has never been in love with a woman. As a celebrity, she found it “scary” to date women in the past.

“It was scary, though, because there were paparazzi always waiting for me outside, to follow me everywhere. I had very little privacy,” she said of dating women in the past.

“I have dated women. I was much more into women even as a child than I was men.”
