Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence has opened up about feeling uncomfortable while filming one particular nude scene.

Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the Hunger Games star revealed that she has recently become aware of the grave responsibility that comes with being at the top of the game.

The actor feels she has a duty to look out for people starting out

While Lawrence may have no qualms about calling people out for their behavior, or alerting the crew when she is not happy with the conduct on set, she noted that young actors beginning their careers do not have the same privilege.

She told host Alex Cooper: "I speak up more because I’m also aware of the place that I have in the industry."

The incident that Lawrence references involved crew members who had not been approved to be there being allowed on set during a scene that involved nudity.

Recalling how she handled it on the podcast, Lawrence said: "I came down hard on it."

Paving the way for those who come after her, Lawrence made a clear and important point. If one of the biggest blockbuster stars cannot expect to be respected at work, what chance does a young up-and-coming actor have?

The Oscar-winning actor noted that a young hopeful might feel uncomfortable challenging her superiors, as calling them out could earn her the often misogynistic reputation of being "difficult".

Arguably worse, they could feel pressured to remain silent and find themselves in a position that compromises their privacy or even safety.

While Lawrence chose not to name the production in which the incident happened or when, the actor explained that she wanted everyone involved to understand why their actions were unacceptable.

The Hollywood actors’ union, SAG-AFTRA, officially rules that scenes involving nudity or simulated sex must be filmed on closed sets, with access restricted to people essential to the production.

This essentially means that just because someone is working on the film set, it does not mean that they are entitled to watch the talent take their kit off.

Lawrence has long championed conversations about consent

It comes as no surprise that of all the Hollywood stars out there, it is Lawrence looking out for her juniors. In 2014, Lawrence was among several female celebrities whose intimate photographs were stolen and circulated online without their consent.

At the time, she led the charge against the hacking, labeling it a sexual violation and spoke very openly about the impact it had on her relationship with nudity and consent.

Lawrence later revealed that the decision to wear just her birthday suit in a scene in the spy thriller Red Sparrow just four years later was not one she made lightly.

Although she spoke candidly to Vanity Fair about being scared that people would question why she was willing to appear naked on screen after being so vocal about the release of her private photographs, she noted that there was a stark difference. What makes the two situations entirely separate things is consent.

To make things crystal clear, she explained: "One is my choice."
