It is set to be released in four weeks; however, the Like a Prayer artist's show in the Big Apple didn't give fans much notice.

There was only a day's notice given for those wanting to attend, yet thousands showed up to watch the pop icon perform.

A Times Square video screen revealed that Madonna, 67, was joined by backup dancers and DJ Stuart Price, with the artist beginning a six-song set for the crowd.

This consisted of tunes from both the new album and its 2005 predecessor, Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Madonna's raunchy moments on stage

At one point on stage, Madonna straddled a speaker while she lay on a rotating stage, just days after inadvertently flashing fans on Instagram while wishing fans a happy Pride month.

The artist even saw her grinding against one of the female dancers, but the riskiest moment came when she made her way to the edge of the stage.

Madonna hung one leg over the clear safety barricade, which was serving as her only protection from the street, many metres below the stage.

Luckily, nothing more came from the stunt, except for the raised heart rates of those watching the show.

One fan wrote on X: “The way I screamed “madonna no don’t!!!!” when she was hanging over the barricade!”

Another added: “My heart dropped,” while a third admitted that they were "scared to death."

However, others noticed that the move may have been calculated, as a different fan noted: "The way she was testing the strength of the barrier first," with a laughing emoji.

A fifth wrote: "I’m crying, she was making sure it was strong enough before putting her leg on top," with crying emojis.

Madonna has had mishaps on stage before

Many fans clearly remember the infamous moment that took place at the 2016 Brit Awards, as Madonna fell mid-performance.

The artist had been yanked backwards down a flight of stairs by her cape, mid-performance.

Her latest performance coincided with the release of her newest song, Love Sensation, which will feature on her upcoming album.

She performed this song as well as the two other singles from Confessions II, while also performing three songs from the predecessor: Get Together, I Love New York, and worldwide hit, Hung Up.
