Taylor Swift’s wedding dress is reportedly set to be inspired by a vintage dress worn by a famous actress decades ago.

Marrying football player Travis Kelce in June, Taylor’s big day is the most anticipated wedding of the year, and there is, of course, huge speculation over what she will be wearing.

Her gown is set to be inspired by her idol Elizabeth Taylor’s look from her first marriage to Conrad Hilton, Paris Hilton’s great-uncle, in 1950.

It wouldn’t be the first time the singer has used the late Cleopatra actress as a muse; she dedicated a whole song to her on her latest album, The Life Of A Showgirl.

A source told The Daily Mail: “Taylor spent so much time looking at old photos of Elizabeth Taylor when she was making her music video for that song that she became enamoured with the movie queen's style.

“So when she started thinking about her wedding dress, she looked up Elizabeth's old gowns online.”

The Hollywood royalty’s gown was a masterpiece of 1950s “New Look” glamour made of white satin silk adorned with fine filigree embroidery, which was tightly cinched at the waist, then flowed into a billowing skirt.

“Taylor said she liked how it was old-fashioned and came in at the waistline, plus the lace detailing,” the source also revealed.

The designer of the dress is currently unknown and may not be revealed until the big day. She has only let slip that it is not Oscar de la Renta.

There are rumours she may go with Sarah Burton, who designed Kate Middleton’s 2011 wedding dress, or Vivienne Westwood.

It was also hinted that Taylor might borrow a piece of Elizabeth’s jewellery for the big day, as she has a good relationship with the icon’s estate following the release of her song about the pressures of fame, called 'Elizabeth Taylor'.

“She loves Elizabeth's jewels, so she may just wear one of her pieces, something on the smaller side for when she walks down the aisle, but she would need to ask Taylor's estate,” it was reported.

The pop star and football player, both 36, will reportedly tie the knot on June 13 at Taylor’s $18 million Rhode Island home.

According to UsWeekly, the couple is expecting 150 guests, which will include many of the pair’s famous pals.

The couple announced their engagement in August last year with a joint Instagram post of pictures from the garden proposal with the caption: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
