'Game of Thrones' fans think they found evidence that Jaime Lannister is still alive
(Warning: This article contains spoilers about Game of Thrones through season eight, episode five. However, it contains absolutely no spoilers about the 1996-1997 UPN sitcom Homeboys In Outer Space. If you haven't watched seen Homeboys In Outer Space yet, don't worry you are absolutely safe.)
On last Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones, one-handed incest enthusiast Jaime Lannister appeared to die. During a beach battle with the Westerosi Jack Sparrow, he suffered some pretty brutal stabs. Then, after reuniting with Cersei, they got trapped in the Red Keep's cellar while the building collapsed. It looked like the Kingslayer was no more.
Watch Jamie and Cersei Lannister die / appear to die in Game of Thrones
However, Tumblr detective WeedsAreFlowersToo, put together a pretty compelling case that Jaime's still alive: "Why isn’t ANYONE acknowledging that Jaime Lannister just died???" she wrote. "Why is nobody in the cast thanking Nik for his performance? Why did Pilou (Euron Greyjoy) and Lena’s (Cersei Lannister) insta post not say anything about Jaime dying? Why isn’t Nik saying anything about what he thinks of the scene? Why did he make a post saying goodbye to Lena, and not to the character he played for 8 years? Why is there no talk of Jaime’s death in the game revealed?"
If you check the receipts, you'll notice she's right. Even Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth, and shared so many scenes with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, said nothing about Jamie's death on Twitter or Instagram.
Here's Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's post, where he says goodbye to Lena in the caption, but doesn't say anything about Jaime's dying.
And here's Lena Headey's post, which also doesn't acknowledge Jaime's death.
But that's not all! The Tumblr user also presents proof involving Entertainment Weekly writer James Hibberd. Hibberd conducted exit interviews with nearly every major actors whose character died during this season, including Lena and Rory McCann, who played TheHound. But not Nikolaj. When a fan asked asked about Nikolaj's exit interview, Hibberd cryptically replied, "Thanks! Holding that one for a bit..." (What?!)
"Apparently James Hibberd [the EW editor] also said there was a character he was surprised to see alive in episode 6," WeedsAreFlowersToo continued. "I don’t think there is any other character at this point that we would be shocked to see alive except Jaime. Prove me wrong."
You know what? I'm not going to argue with you, WeedsAreFlowersToo. You've convinced me! I don't know how Jaime survived that collapsing building, though. Maybe he hid under a dumpster, like a certain character on The Walking Dead.
