How to stop feeling tired while working from home – 5 tips to boost your energy
Zoom fatigue is a thing – so we've got some advice on how to stop feeling tired during lockdown.
Currently, 24 million Britons are working from home, according to sports nutrition company Revvies. Amongst that figure, research reveals that 37 per cent claim that their energy levels are the lowest they have ever been. That's over a third of us!
With that in mind, let's take a look on what we can do to stop feeling tired all the time.
How to stop feeling tired while working from home
As more and more of us are "living at work" in the midst of the UK's third national lockdown, it's unsurprising that we are feeling burnt out. With endless Zoom calls and the increased difficulty of clocking off, people are looking for new ways to replenish their energy stocks.

Here, John Nolan-Neylan, the CEO and co-founder of high-performance nutrition brand, Revvies, shares his top tips to stay energised and motivated during a truly unprecedented time.
1. Factor in time for mindfulness
Of course, mindfulness has been linked to a host of cognitive benefits. And this is even more important while in lockdown. Nolan-Neylan says that giving yourself some time to relax, quiet the mind and focus on your breathing can "boost the brain's executive functions".

It can also improve mood, reduce impulsive behaviour and leave you feeling more energised. "This is an especially effective technique after a draining workday to achieve a productive, feel-good evening," he adds.
2. Exercise outdoors – preferable at 7am
"The right amount of exercise and sleep will bring the most benefits to your energy levels," Nolan-Neylan says.
"Exercising and sleeping well can make yourself more alert, reduce stress, and improve cognitive functioning. This is sure to make you more energised to get through the day. During lockdown, it might be worth just moving this back to daylight hours," he adds, citing a study by Appalachian State University, which claims that the best time to exercise for both weight management and sleep is 7am.
3. Use caffeine to your advantage
Nolan-Neylan advises using caffeine "in a moment or fatigue" or "just at the end of the working day". This, he says, "will give you the alertness and energy you need to help you make the most of your day."

Of course, it's important to temper your coffee intake, but studies have shown the benefits of the wonder drug. According to WebMD, caffeine can improve memory, decrease fatigue, and improve your mental functioning. As well as this, it can speed up your reaction times, which is invaluable when you're working from home, and having to manage many different tasks.
4. Self-care can help you stop feeling so tired
We all know the importance of using our free time in the evenings and weekends, but few of us actually indulge in it. This could mean binge-watching a Netflix series, having a bath or a FaceTime call with a loved one.
Whatever it is, Nolan-Neylan says we must use our spare time to "rest and recharge in order to avoid burning out mid-week. Resting allows you to replenish your energy levels, whilst also taking your mind off work or any worries and anxieties you may have of the week ahead."
5. Organise your time strategically
"The benefits of organising your day are simple – being more organised and achieving your goals gives you a great sense of satisfaction," explains Nolan-Neylan. And this, of course, will allow you to be better reap the rewards of all the other tips.
"Being able to effectively plan your day will help you to boost your productivity - both at work and at home - and enable you to take the ‘me time’, nap time and exercise time needed to live a happy and energy-filled life," he states.
