Jim Carrey unveils savage new portrait that people think might be his best yet

While Jim Carrey is known as an all-around funny man, it appears that he's now offering something other than comedic value.

Yes, the actor-cum-artist has recently been sharing his paintings on Twitter, and they're well... interesting. Often satirical in nature, Jim Carrey's artworks offer scathing rebukes on various political players - namely those that are Republicans - including Donald Trump, Alex Jones and now, Fox News host, Sean Hannity.

On Monday, Carrey released his latest piece, which depicts Hannity as a manatee.

Carrey shared the portrait shortly after it was revealed that the American talk show host and conservative political commentator was the third "mystery" client of Donald Trump's attorney, Michael Cohen - who is currently the subject of a federal investigation.

"Sean Manatee: some endangered species aren't worth saving!" the actor captioned the artwork, which was uploaded to Twitter.

This is not the first of Carrey's shade-throwing artworks. Earlier this month, the Dumb and Dumber actor trolled conspiracy theorist, Alex Jones.

"If u believe wrestling is real u may even believe Fox news, Info Wars and the robotic drones on Sinclair Broadcasting. But wrestling doesn’t harm viewers. Performers like Sean Hannity and Alex Jones should join the WWE where their hyperbole will do less damage to the culture," he wrote on Twitter to accompany the image.

Carrey's artistic endeavours have also taken aim at Donald Trump and other members of his administration in recent months. "Dear Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery @NPG, I know it’s early but I’d like to submit this as the official portrait of our 45th President, Donald J. Trump. It’s called, 'You Scream. I Scream. Will We Ever Stop Screaming?'," he captioned an image of the billionaire property tycoon.

Another portrait saw Trump modelled on The Wizard of Oz's Wicked Witch of The West. "If you liked my last cartoon you may also enjoy... THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST WING AND PUTIN’S FLYING MONKEYS," the actor stated.

One artwork addressed the President's relationship with American attorney, Joe diGenova. "Lawyer and lucky charm Joe diGenovia hopes to put Dirty Donald's troubles in the rearview mirror," Carrey wrote. "But the objects in the mirror are closer than they appear."

In an interview which took place last year, Carrey asserted that creating politically charged art is not a new thing for him. Certainly, the 2017 documentary, I Needed Colour, shows the actor confessing that his new creative outlet helped him "heal a broken heart".

Carrey has been candid about his struggles with depression in the past. In the Netflix original, Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, the actor spoke about his mental health, especially during the making of Man on the Moon. "At this point, I don’t have depression," he stated. "There is not an experience of depression,” he says. “I had that for years, but now, when the rain comes, it rains, but it doesn’t stay. It doesn’t stay long enough to immerse me and drown me anymore."
