Kendall Jenner 'emergency' called Kris during a panic attack, and her response was perfect
While all eyes are on Kylie Jenner and her baby right now, her sister Kendall seems to be having it tough. The 22-year-old, who shot to the top of Forbes' list of highest paid models in 2017, is in the middle of doing the Fashion Week circuit across the world. NYFW finishes this week and models will head straight to Europe to see out the other weeks in London, Milan and Paris.
But it seems that the non-stop travel and backstage mayhem is getting too much for Kendall, who recently called her mother, Kris Jenner, in a panic while stating it was an "emergency". The Victoria's Secret model revealed last month that she suffers from "debilitating anxiety" and gets panic attacks every so often.
She opened up to Harpers Bazaar US about the mental health condition, stating: "I literally wake up in the middle of the night with full-on panic attacks. Where do I even start? Everything is so horrible; it's hard to name one thing… You go online and you see everyone saying the worst things to each other, and it's hard to stay positive. It's hard not to get eaten alive by all the negativity."
It seems that despite her privileged life and bombshell looks, Kendall isn't immune from the same doubt and insecurity that many of us experience. And just like the rest of us, she felt the best person to turn to during an especially bad panic attack was her mum.
We see the interaction in a segment from Keeping Up With The Kardashians. In the clip, Kris sits with Kim Kardashian and a group of skincare specialists to discuss psoriasis treatments (Kim and Kris both suffer from the skin condition). The momager receives a phone call from Kendall, and picks it up asking if it's "urgent". Through the phone, you can hear Kendall respond: "It's an emergency".
Kris said she'd call right back and excused herself. Kim quipped: "That's why she has psoriasis. Every kid has an emergency, every day."
The 62-year-old called her daughter back and asked the anxious-sounding Kendall: "Have you eaten something?". Kris even enquired about taking her to see a specialist: "Do you want me to come take you to the hospital?"
The mother, rightfully worried about her daughter, then asked her whereabouts. Back in LA at the time, Kendall said she was "two seconds from dad's house," referring of course to Caitlyn Jenner. Kris announced she'd be there as soon as possible, before Kendall said that she needed to hang up to pick up a call from Caitlyn.
In a reflective interview after the incident, Kris explained how her daughter's anxiety gets particularly bad twice a year during the two fashion months.
"Kendall struggles from anxiety and I think she has so much going on that she gets herself really worked up. Kendall gets the most anxious during Fashion Week, so when she's travelling a lot, and Milan's coming up, and trying to juggle it all is overwhelming."
