Woman's divorce party TikTok goes viral after she lists '10 worst things' her ex-husband did

A woman threw herself a divorce party at a Chicago bar, put a poster board on the counter listing the '10 worst things my ex-husband did during our marriage', and filmed every single person who walked up to read it.
The reactions were spectacular.
We're talking hands over mouths, eyes wide open - that sort of reaction.
One man's face twisted into a silent howl, and even the bartender froze mid-pour and did a double-take.
The TikTok has been viewed over 30 million times garnering 45,000 comments, but - crucially - nobody knows what the board actually says.
The video
Content creator Abbey Wellman posted the clip in June.
It was filmed at Mary Jo McGuire's, a bar in Chicago, during what she described as a party to celebrate the end of a 'long and emotionally draining process'.
The video is 60 seconds long, set to dramatic music, and shows one guest after another walking up to the poster board, reading the list, and visibly losing their composure.
Nobody kept a straight face.
The board itself is visible in the clip but too blurred to read.
That was apparently deliberate. Wellman has said in a follow-up video that she is 'legally not allowed to post the board'.
That has not stopped people trying.
Multiple viewers have screenshotted the video and zoomed in. All they got was blur.
The reaction
The comments section has been losing its mind for six weeks straight.
'Girl if you don't show us the damn board…' one person wrote.
'I'll sign an NDA just to know,' said another.
One viewer offered to buy Wellman drinks in exchange for seeing the list.
Another suggested she could whisper the contents into a phone call if she didn't want to post them publicly.
Some were more supportive than nosy.
'There's something so validating about getting reactions like that,' one wrote. 'Like yes, it really was that bad.'
Others were less convinced. On Reddit's r/TikTokCringe, commenters questioned whether the video lived up to its own premise, pointing out that it was essentially a minute of people's faces without ever showing what they were reacting to.
The Daily Dot called it a video that 'has gone viral for all the wrong reasons'.
Where did the idea come from?
Wellman told the New York Post she got the idea from the film 10 Things I Hate About You.
She said she wanted all her friends to be 'on the same page' about what happened during her marriage and figured a list at a party was the most efficient way to do it.
She has not shared when exactly the marriage ended. Her TikTok posts from late 2025 and early 2026 show her mentioning her ex-husband less and less before the divorce party video arrived in June like a hand grenade.
Are divorce parties a thing now?
They have been for a while, but they are getting more public.
In a separate TikTok compilation about divorce parties, one woman said she hosted hers as 'the ultimate girls' night' where guests brought appetisers and desserts, did crafts, and drank wine while she staged her entire house from scratch.
Another woman filmed herself burning her marriage certificate at hers.
A third had a dress code where every guest came dressed as 'past versions of her ex-husband'.
Wellman's version is the one that went nuclear, though. 30 million views and counting.
Nobody knows what is on the board. And based on the faces of the people who read it, it is probably better that way.
