Dolly Parton was forced to address years-long rumor about her breasts

The late Dolly Parton was once made to respond to reports about her breasts and whether she had them insured.
The 'Jolene' singer had been in the spotlight for the best part of six decades, and had unsurprisingly been faced with several uncomfortable questions and claims about herself.
Parton's death was confirmed by her family on Tuesday (August 25), via a heartfelt statement on social media, after she said she still had "so many things" that she wanted to achieve.
The Tennessee native was dealing with several health issues before her passing, but the announcement came as a shock to fans.
She'd admitted that she had "issues" that she didn't pay attention to while caring for her husband Carl Dean, who died at the age of 82 in March 2025.
But following her death, some of the country music legend's best moments have started resurfacing on social media.
Dolly Parton revealed if breasts were insured
Back in 2022, the country icon addressed rumors that her breasts were insured.
Unfortunately for certain delusional fans, Parton said that the reports were “not true,” dismissing the speculation in an appearance on Today With Hoda & Jenna.
The co-hosts, Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, were curious if Parton had really gotten her breasts insured, leading on from a conversation about model Heidi Klum having her legs insured.
Parton answered: “It’s not true, years ago, was it Betty Grable or one of the great famous stars that was famous also for her legs? At that time, I said, ‘Well, maybe I should get my boobs insured since I’m famous for them,’
“It was just a joke. I didn’t do that,” she admitted.
She even quipped: “By the way, you can get new boobs, but you can’t get new legs!”
In September 2021, Parton spoke out about other rumors that were spread about her over the years, admitting: "I always laugh at them."
“One, it shows up about every three years in the tabloids, where I’m bedridden because my boobs are so heavy that I’m crippled for life on my back," she explained.
“I just laugh. Well, they are heavy, but they haven’t crippled me yet.”
She even recalled reading the headline, 'DOLLY BEDRIDDEN', which featured images of herself “laying on all the bed somewhere [sic]”.
She admitted: “And the story is that my spine is injured or whatever. I just think, ‘Oh my lord. If they were that heavy, I’d have them changed. I’d have them lessened.”
Reporter asked Dolly Parton about her breasts
Back in 1986, reporter Mike Munro spoke to Parton on an episode of Channel Nine's 60 Minutes, arguably taking his questioning over the line.
He asked: “You've always been very protective about your measurements of your striking figure. Why have you always been [so private about that]?”
Parton, who remained polite, said that she doesn't reveal her size as measurements can fluctuate, claiming that she varies "20 pounds every six months."
“I'm actually not as big as people think 'cause I'm a tiny little person, and I'm small boned, and I'm just over-exaggerated,” the 'Jolene' singer claimed.
“You'd be amazed to know how tiny they really are,” she stated.
Munro tried to pry and get her to reveal a size, saying with a chuckle: “No, you can't. Up yours, buster.”
The reporter claimed that she did eventually tell him, once the cameras were off, saying on 2GB's Ben Fordham: “When the cameras were turned off, she did tell me.”
