The next Super Bowl Halftime Show performer has been confirmed - and it's none other than Jay Z.

The news was confirmed on October 26, when a black and white advert aired during Monday Night Football, featuring the rapper and producer.

The 15-second clip showed the artist - real name Shawn Carter - sitting in an empty stadium wearing sunglasses, as the word 'Goat's out of the bag' flashed up on screen, as a number of actual goats could be seen around him.

The clip also featured music from his song 'Public Service Announcement', saying: "Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Hov."

The 'Empire State of Mind' star, 56, will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

While the announcement stirred up a great deal of excitement, many fans were saying the same thing - namely, that Jay Z chose himself for the honor, as he is one of the main decision-makers for who the performer will be each year, along with the National Football League (NFL), Apple Music, and Jay-Z’s entertainment agency, Roc Nation.

Fans commented: "Jay-Z selecting Jay-Z to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show is certainly something," and: "Bro gave him himself a job that nobody asked him to do."

Others added: "He announced himself lmfaooo," and: "Jay Z has chosen Jay Z as headliner of the Super Bowl halftime show."

After unveiling the news, Jay Z said in a statement: "From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey.

"Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true."

His performance comes after this year's Halftime Show headliner Bad Bunny took the stage at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The reggaeton star brought out a line-up of celebrity guests, including Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Cardi B, Karol G, Pedro Pascal, and Jessica Alba.

While Jay Z has yet to confirm any guest performers, many fans are hoping he might bring out his superstar wife, Beyonce, for a surprise appearance.

This was further fueled by the NFL, which said in a statement: "Anticipation as to who Jay-Z might have guest star at halftime for the big game will now kick off. Of course, his wife, Beyoncé, will be atop the list."

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell added that he "couldn't be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring.

"When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him."
