Woman gives birth in McDonald's car park then orders a Quarter Pounder
A woman, who gave birth in a McDonald's car park, found the perfect way to celebrate: ordering a Quarter Pounder.
The couple, who remain unidentified, drove into the car park at a McDonald's in Croydon, Melbourne's east, yesterday, where they unexpectedly welcomed a little bundle of joy.
The birth, which was clearly not supposed to occur at that precise moment, caused quite the scene at the fast food outlet, as the husband went inside shortly afterwards to order a burger.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Licensee Ainsley Shillington said that the "frazzled" husband explained to staff that his wife had just given birth, as he waited for an ambulance.
"During our lunch rush, he asked for an order for his wife who was delivering a baby in the car park," Shillington continued to radio station 3AW. "We served the customer as quickly as possible with drinks and a dinner box and he proceeded on his way, the crew at the time were quite concerned."
She proceeded to joke to that the Quarter Pounder was the new mother's "first request". How's that for a push present, eh?
"Everyone thought it was quite a fun to have such an occurrence in the car park, when they saw the ambulance in attendance they knew they were well and truly looked after."
Shillington said that the pair were able to enjoy their order as the burgers were ready just before the ambulance arrived.
The staff of the McDonalds branch weren't able to ascertain the sex of the baby, as the couple were quickly transported to a nearby hospital.
Well, although giving birth in a car park - and a McDonald's' one at that - is far from ideal, at least these parents will have a hilarious story to tell their child one day.
